Shelter Island Nomad

The Shelter Island Nomad is a quick, stable platform for fishing, scuba diving and family outings. This yacht features an extremely efficient propulsion system and a unique opening transom. Nicknamed the “Tailgate”, a large portion of the transom hinges down to become a swim platform providing easy on and off access for an inflatable, mopeds, a wheelchair or divers.

Twin inboard diesels, driving surface piercing propellers that are tucked up in hull tunnels provide increased efficiency and top speed, and decrease fuel consumption. Since the propellers are recessed, there is added protection against striking submerged objects. The draft is a mere 20”.

The trunk cabin’s shortened proportion, in length, along with a recessed foredeck, provide an excellent walking area for stand-up fishing or working the anchor. In the cockpit are two ultra-comfortable Stidd chairs along with lounge type seating over the engine boxes. A pair of bench seats aft is also available. The helm is designed to house the latest electronics offering an integrated color GPS/chartplotter with radar overlay and color fishfinder.

Down below there’s an enclosed head with handheld shower, a V berth and a suitably sized bureau with book locker. To port aft of the V berth is a galley complete with refrigeration, sink and an available countertop stove.
